Philosophy:
Unlike many other textbooks, SUN focuses on communication. In other words, the textbooks focus more on speaking and listening than on reading and writing Japanese. SUN is designed to teach students Spoken Japanese as precisely and efficiently as possible. In order to do so, not only logical explanations of background culture, grammar and vocabulary, but also a lot of practice is required. SUN integrates all of these factors.
Structure:
SUN consists of 25 Lessons in each book. Each Lesson is divided in to 8 sections:
(1) Kihon Kaiwa (Basic Conversations), (2) Vocabulary, (3) Supplementary Notes, (4) Grammatical Notes, (5) Drills, (6) Exercises, (7) Listening Comprehension Tests, and (8) Utilization. Each Lesson is designed to be completed in 2 to 3 hours.
