JAPANESE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE I, II

Textbook for beginning middle school students. Use of manga-type drawings gives it a lively appearance. Illustrations are clear and useful. Each lesson presents key sentences, vocabulary, exercises, main dialogue, short dialogues, and a quiz. Sentence patterns are introduced and students use them in exercises before reading the dialogues. The dialogues are short, but easy to extend and personalize. Kana is used from the beginning, and kanji are introduced in Volume II. This text's emphasis is on learning to speak. Definitely work considering as a main text for middle school learners. Exercises could be used to supplement other texts.
