Abstract
Three panelists will offer advice on preparing for a Japanese-language job search. You will learn some of the best practices of the job search process from the perspective of the applicant and the employer. Topics will include writing the cover letter, how to best organize a curriculum vitae, developing an effective teaching portfolio and what to expect at a job interview. Based on their experience from the hiring side, each of the presenters will share valuable tips that will walk you through the process from job search to job offer. There will be a mock interview followed by a question and answer period. Good teaching requires an understanding of the target learner. Likewise, a successful job search requires not only knowing how to effectively present one?s academic credentials and highlight potential for academic citizenship, it also requires an understanding of the search committee's expectations and knowledge about the hiring institution.
